Sofia Froes

Acting as you are.

Presence training for actors, leaders and people who perform under pressure —
using the tools of acting to help you stay present, connected and expressive when it matters.

You know this feeling.

You know what you want to say.
Then the moment comes.

The meeting. The boardroom. The stage.
The camera. The conversation. The room full of people.
Everyone is looking.

And something takes over.
You tighten. You overthink. You try to get it right.
And suddenly, you're managing yourself instead of being there.
You perform.

Nothing has gone wrong.
Something has simply become automatic.
Somewhere along the way, you learned ways of being safe, capable, acceptable, impressive, in control.
And sometimes what once helped you navigate the world becomes something you no longer notice you're carrying.

Sofia works with what happens underneath.

Where do you belong?

Different people come here for different reasons. The work can happen in a group, 1:1, or within an organisation.

Sofia Froes

Story

Most of us become very good at being who we learned to be.

Sofia Froes sees what's underneath.

Somewhere along the way, we learn how to become who we need to be.
The work begins when we become aware of what that has cost us.

Trained as an actress at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, with 30+ years of embodied practice – theatre, cinema, television, voice, movement, meditation, holotropic breathwork, active listening, silence – she developed something that can't be taught in a course. A way of seeing. Of listening. Of knowing where the conditioning lives in a body.

In her work, text, voice, and body are not the destination.
They are the way in.

She doesn't tell you who you are. She goes there with you.

This is not coaching. Not therapy.
It is about saying the thing you'd normally edit before it leaves your mouth – which is a return to yourself.

From Sofia

From an early age, I have seen beyond what is visible. Not just who someone appears to be in a given moment. But what remains untouched beneath it all.

The part hidden beneath the layers life asks us to wear. The protections we build. The fears we carry. The stories we tell ourselves in order to survive.

I have always seen beyond those things. I see what happens underneath.
The strength. The voice before it is heard. The possibility that remains.

Perhaps that is why people often tell me I see the world differently. Not because I am blind to pain. Or loss. Or the scars life leaves behind. I see them all. But I also see what none of those things could erase.

The part that remains.
Still there.

"You are not a voice teacher. To describe you that way is too reductive. You accompany processes of liberation – through voice, through body, through presence. What you do is return to each person their freedom of expression. And that is everything."

There is a version of you that existed before you started performing. Before the roles. Before the masks you learned to wear so well you forgot they were masks.

You don't need to become someone else.

The work is about noticing what gets in the way of being fully present.

The door is open.

The Work

Sofia works with the tools of acting to explore what happens underneath performance.

PresenceListeningVoiceBreath BodyAttentionImaginationSilence

Not to create a better version of you.

Not to make you perform yourself more convincingly.

But to notice what has become automatic.
To loosen what no longer needs to be held.
And make room for what is already there.

For those in the public eye

A private space away from the noise.

Sofia works privately with people whose lives and work are lived under attention.

Where there is visibility, there is often pressure.

  • To be consistent
  • To be impressive
  • To be available
  • To be understood
  • To be watched

This work creates a space where none of that is required.

There is nothing to perform here.

What people experience

"Sofia has a rare quality of listening. She understands who you are and where you are. And takes you somewhere you never thought you could reach. I did things I had only ever dreamt of before."

– Lara — Actress, London

"Returning to myself. That is what I felt. A reunion with my own truth. This mentorship achieved more than years of technical training ever had."

– James — CEO, Technology

"If there is one thing that defines what Sofia does – it is returning to each person the freedom of expression. This may sound like a small thing the first time you hear it. But to return to someone the freedom of expression is to return to them the possibility of truly being themselves – fully and without condition. And that is a beauty without end."

– Susana — Senior Executive, International Company

The Lab

In-person · Full day
Next Lab: September 20, Lisbon. Also in Ericeira — and anywhere in the country, given the right conditions.
On Stage For actors.

You know your text.
You've prepared everything.
And then you walk into the room – and you're gone.

Not because you're not good enough.
Because you're not there.

The audition is not won by who prepared the most.
It's won by who is most present in the room.

Presence. Listening. Letting go of control without losing the ground. Being in the scene instead of watching yourself perform it.

Active listening. Text that becomes yours. Body available. Voice free.

You don't need to be more.
You need to be here.

Live it. Don't perform it.

Off Stage For people.

You don't think of yourself as a performer. But you know the feeling.

The moment before you speak in a meeting and your mind goes blank. The presentation where you knew everything – and your body forgot. The conversation where you wanted to say something real – and something rehearsed came out instead.

What looks like nerves is often disconnection.
A loss of connection between mind, body and presence.

Voice. Breath. Body. Presence.
Not as techniques to learn – as things you already have and stopped trusting.

You don't need to perform better.
You need to stop performing altogether.

Come as you are.
